Paris Katherine Jackson spoke publicly for the first time at her father, Michael Jackson's, memorial service today.

The saddest part of the memorial was when his 11-year-old daughter, Paris Katherine Jackson, was allowed to take the microphone. I had seen it coming for minutes as the sweet and serious-looking little girl conferred with her aunts Latoya Jackson and Janet Jackson, who seemed to be pepping her up. "Oh, no," I thought, "They're going to let her speak.".Paris Katherine Jackson let the world know what an excellent father she had.

Though she was quickly brought to tears, her courage will remain in the hearts of millions forever. It took an enormous amount of strength for an 11 year old girl to address the world and what she showed us was that she was mourning more than an icon, she is mourning her father.

She didn’t say very much, but it was a statement that she may be forced to repeat for many years:

“I’d just like to say that from the day I was born he was the best daddy I every could have wished for…”

In her brief and emotional statement Paris touched the hearts of millions of people, anyone who watched that moment and didn’t cry is a stronger person than me.
